Spring Early Childhood Developmental
Screening Day COming Up MArch 4, 2015
The Investing Early Committee of Manitowoc County will host the Spring Developmnetal Screening event on March 4, 2015 at the Manitowoc Public Library. This event is free for children in Manitowoc County. Children between the ages of two months to four years of age will screened using the Ages and Stages Questionnaires. This screening tool is widely used throughout the state and is endorsed by the Wisconsin Early Childhood Collaborating Partners and Children’s Hospital Northeast Regional Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs. Trained screeners from Birth to 3, Lakeshore Family Resources, Manitowoc County Health Department, CESA #7 Head Start/Early Head Start, Manitowoc Public School District, and other local agencies volunteer their time to make this event a success. Children's Hospital - Northeast Regional Center for Childre with Special Health Care Needs will provide each child who attends an appropriate children's book. The goal of these bi-annual screening events is to identify children with develomental needs early and get the families connected to the appropriate intervention services. The children screened at these events who were identified with a possible delay will receive follow up services from Birth to 3, a referral to their local school district, or an opportunity to be re-screened at the next community wide screening event. This event is free and open to all families in the Manitowoc County area.
